Coherent's EDF-T6 erbium-doped fiber is designed for L-Band erbium-doped fiber
amplifiers (EDFAs) that operate out to 1610nm. The higher erbium peak absorption
levels of this fiber help contain design costs by reducing the amount of fiber needed
within an EDFA. Its core composition has been optimized to maintain high erbium levels
while minimizing up-conversion clustering effects. This fiber has been engineered to
minimize four-wave mixing (FWM). The EDF-T6 is also suitable for use in ASE sources.
